A 'Digital Marketing Gym Lovers' Simple Health Tips

What health means to me

Hey! My name is Lottie, I am a 21 year old psychology graduate currently working within the digital marketing industry and when I am not, I can usually be found in the gym!

For me, health means confidence! It’s the confidence of knowing you are giving your body what it needs to help you be the best version of you! It’s the confidence to run up that huge flight of stairs just for fun or the confidence you get when you put on that dress you love.

Having grown up with my mum being a nutritionist and a fairly active family, it was always engrained to me how important having a balance in life was and that you should never take your health for granted.

My 5 Health Tips

1. Get some activity in
I know you’ve heard it a million times but honestly, it doesn’t matter what it is - whether it be a walk, run, CrossFit, swimming, ice skating, yoga, a YouTube workout... just get your 30 minutes in a day somehow.

2. Drink your water
Again, not the best kept secret but hydrating your body is so important for so many aspects of the body from brain function, to gut health to skin and nails.
When your body is hydrated, it allows us to be psychologically sharp, feel energised and helps achieve that glowy skin look we are all after.

3. Get your zzzz in!
Sleep is one of the most important factors that often can get overlooked. I always aim for a minimum of 8 hours a night. Sleep is pivotal for the recovery of pretty much every single part of your body. Sleep has a knock on effect to everything you do - you have a great nights sleep, you feel energised, you have a great workout, you are making healthy choices, you don’t feel lethargic and ultimately you are being the best version of you that you can be!

4. Take some time for YOU
Life is busy! Whether you’re a mum, a student, a full-time employee, whatever it may be. Trying to balance everything can be exhausting and result in many people overlooking their mental health. Taking 5,10,20 minutes, whatever you can fit in your day and having it to yourself to do something that calms your mind and makes you feel centred can improve your entire day! Try taking a bath, watching your favourite TV program, listen to a podcast, get your nails done, go on a walk ... whatever it is, make sure you’re taking time for you.

5. Do what makes YOU happy
We have become socially conditioned to all partake in the same motions of life and do what others expect of us. Sometimes you need to take a step back and assess if every aspect of your life is contributing positively to the life you want to lead. Delete those people on Instagram who make you feel less than amazing, re assess those friendships of people who don’t support you, re think that job which makes you come home deflated every day. Surround yourself with the people and things that make you happy!
